Mission 4: Questions
« on: May 08, 2016, 06:50:27 PM »

Warriors of the Watch,

The final remnants of the Dark Caste resistance have melted away into the wilderness.  Recee flights have shown the final organized remnant fleeing south.  Their path has been analyzed and it appears that they are heading for a small group of structures which do not appear on our maps or surveys, located at an extreme latitude  While they will reach their destination before our assault can take place, you are to deploy to the east of the structures, move west and reconniter the structures to find out why they are heading here, and eliminate all resistance.  Leave no survivors.

...
Game Setup

ALL OPFOR players MUST see the GM for a private meeting after determining the results of the bidding process and BEFORE rolling for maps.

This game is played on two BattleTech mapsheets.  These maps are determined randomly (see TW, pg 263).  Roll 1d6 for the eastern map.  1-3: Mountain Terrain.  4-6: Hill Terrain.  Roll 1d6 for the western map: 1-3: Hill Terrain.  4-6: Wooded Terrain.  Reroll any results of Box Canyon or Heavy Woods 1 or 2.  Resolve the specific mapsheet as per the indicated table.  The Clan player's home edge is the eastern map's open edge.  Maps MUST be laid out long edge to long edge.  Aerospace units are run using a Low Altitude Mapsheet, keyed to Hexes 0809 and 0909 for the play area.  The OPFOR player will receive several Building Hex Tokens, and must deploy these tokens on the Western Map, leaving at least one hex between any two Building Tokens (no adjacent Buildings).  These Buildings must be located no closer than 5 hexes from the northern and southern map edges, and may not cross the centerfold of the Western Map.

Deployment

OPFOR

OPFOR units are deployed on the Western Map, no closer than 6 hexes from the Eastern Map Edge. Aerospace units enter the Low-Altitude Map from the map edge corresponding to the direction of the ground map home edge, at Velocity 4, Altitude 6 or less.

Clan
Clan units enter the board along their home edge during their movement on Turn one.  Clan Aerospace units enter the Low-Altitude Map during their movement (Velocity and Altitude determined by the controlling player) on Turn ONE.

Game Rules
1) Clan units operate under Forced Withdrawal rules.
2) This game will end after Turn 15.
3) OPFOR Players need not abide by Zellbringen rules
4) Due to the actions of their Dark Caste and their attempted use of atomic, Clan Player Zellbringen is not in play during this scenario.
5) The game, due to its southernly nature, is played under the Moderate Snowfall (TacOps, pg 60) condition (+1 to hit for all weapon attacks), including the heat effects of -50 degree C (pg 62) (reduce Vehicle Cruising Speeds by 2 and recalculate Flank MP; -2 Heat per Turn for heat-tracking units).  Additionally, the Thin Snow condition (+1 MP per hex for Wheeled Vehicles; +1 penalty to all Driving Skill Rolls) is present on Turn 1; the Deep Snow Condition will occur at beginning of Turn 8 (+1 MP to Walk/Run/Cruise/Flank through a hex; hovers excepted.  -1 heat for each leg-mounted heat sink.  The frozen nature of the ground underneath the snow prevents Bogging Down, however.)  Water hexes are iced over, but not completely.  Any unit of 80+ tons which runs or jumps into ice hex has a 1-3 (on 1d6) chance to break through the ice; suffering half falling damage, requiring a Breach check to each location which suffers damage from the fall, and dissipates an additonal 1 heat per heat sink outside the engine, with no upper limit on the amount of dissipated heat.  Any PSRs to stay standing on an ice hex suffer a +4 penalty, and any time you make a facing change and move on an ice-covered hex, you must check for skidding (TW, pg 62).
6) All buildings are CF 80 and stand 2 levels tall, regardless of the stats on the Building Token.

+150 Complicated Weather: Roll once on the Weather Table 2: Wind (pg.69, TO) and apply the result to the battlefield.  Any Tornado Result is re-rolled.
+150 Winter Soldiers: OPFOR units do not take any penalties for fighting in any level of Snowfall, Thin or Deep Snow, or Temperature.  They reduce any numerical penalties for any Wind-related weather effects by 1.  They do receive the increased heat dissipation bonus.

Is the second roll 1-6, supposed to be western map?
