Benton Mudd has led an interesting life to this point except for one major thing.  His name isn’t Benton Mudd.  The man who became Benton Mudd was born on New Avalon in 3018 to universally famous NAIS research scientist and mechwarrior, Doctor B. Banzai and his wife Penny.

As a youth, he excelled in academics and enrolled in the famous New Avalon Preparatory Academy aiming for a career in Political Science.  Unfortunately, the elder Banzai’s found that it was impossible to shield their son from the exploits of his father.  So, after a relaxing summer sailing on Lake Merlin on the outskirts of Avalon City, and the objections of his mother, he enrolled in the prestigious New Avalon Military Academy.  There he did his best to keep a low profile.

During his first tour of duty with the 1st Davion Guards, he led his unit to victory in an exercise against the 3rd Lyran Guards.  General Nondi Steiner was the commander of the 3rd Guards at the time.  Already not a big fan of the Davion military, Gen. Steiner did not take kindly to the upstart scientist’s kid making her look bad.

So, in an effort to get back under everyone’s radar, Roger [“Race”] Banzai disappeared.  Benton Mudd was transferred to the reconstituted 5th Syrtis Fusiliers stationed on Sarna.  Heavy action was encountered in a seemingly pointless raid of Bora by the dreaded Liao Death Commandos.  There, Mudd and his lance faced off against a lance of Commandos led by Lt Zin Edward.  Ancient memories flooded into Mudd as his family’s most hated enemy shows his face again.  The battle was a draw but Mudd’s mind and course were clear.  He resigned his commission and went to Outreach for an opportunity to end his family’s enemy once and for all.
