Both Marauder MAD-3D and Griffin GRF-1N have DHS.
Changing names to Marauder MAD-3Dx and Griffin GRF-1Nx

On the Griffin Reg Tech Marleen Rommel only removed 8 SHS and installed only 8 DHS. Rolls are still good but times are reduced, which really doesn't matter.

For reference, this roll of a "12" does not qualify for a Quirk adjustment, because simple removal of components is not a customization.  Look at pg16 of the rules PDF.

Note that items on a Mech can be removed under the auspices of a Refit (and a skill check made to perform this action). After this is completed, new items may be installed under the auspices of a Customization

This is what happened to your Marauder.  The removal of the SHS is a "refit", and the addition of DHS is a "customization".  Both the Customization and the Refit Kit sections include a provision for Quirks to be added or removed on a natural 2 or 12.  The "Refit" section on page 15 does not have this proviso, and therefore Quirks cannot be gained or lost by virtue of a basic Refit.  That is intentional, to keep people from continually pulling a single item off and then putting it back on their Mech (which would be a refit, not a Refit Kit installation or a customization) in order to eventually generate natural 12s and gain Quirks. 

(Plus, this would fall under the "abuse of the system" proviso that all of our games run under; no set of rules ever written can withstand somebody deliberately trying to break it, and if you try to write a ruleset to resist that effort you end up with 500-page rulesets withs 250 pages of errata.  Like the Total Warfare series of books, actually.)
