I'm putting in for one of the Veteran Heavy Pilots myself, given that I have a roided-out Rifleman with a Regular Pilot, AND an advanced-tech Crusader that I'm repairing on the sly.

You should double-check the age.  She automatically retires in a year, and you have to pay severance (being 65 is an auto-retire, regardless of any other modifiers in play, like the "no retireing before Contract 3 is up).

i know i figured someone with an actual light mech may want them my requests are not priority unless we have nobody that ends up saying take them. just in case i ever end up with a good light mech again ill have a pilot to take some or or heavier customized units

Can we get pilots allocated before the next game? I would like to have a light pilot in my Firestarter instad of my current medium pilot.

Oh, that's clever. 

I mean, still "no", via the wording in the rule doc ("they will retire at 65, period").  But that's a very clever thought.
