Rob: When are searchlight targets declared?

There are TWO searchlight-related declarations each turn.

1: End phase, whether or not you'll have a searchlight active during the following turn.
2: If you have a seachlight active, you can declare a target at the beginning of the Weapons Fire Phase (technically during the Target Designation Phase; which would include TAGging targets).  This target remains illuminated through the End Phase of that turn.

I'm going to arbitrarily rule that searchlights cannot be used to designate a hot-dropping target, and a hot-dropping target cannot designate a target.  They're traveling too fast.  This applies only to Hot-dropping and not jumping units, because I KNOW somebody is going to get confused and ask that question if I don't say it outright.

Again, somebody please print out a bunch of "Searchlight Active" and "Target Illuminated" tokens.  This will make our lives SO MUCH EASIER.  I'm out of MDF hex bases and color ink, or else I would.  Ideally, "Searchlight Active" tokens are big enough that we can see them if we also put a Movement Die on top of them for playspace control issues.

I've got a bunch of warmachine tokens we can use.

I have extra mini poker chips from Axis and Allies. I will bring a couple dozen of 2 different colors, in case yoy would like to use them.

OK, I've got all the minis that Steve doesn't have marked, plus all the record sheets except for the Pixie.  Most of the vees will be proxies, so Steve, if you have more vees, feel free to bring the.

I need a few things confirmed VERY FAST:

1) If someone can bring hexpacks with more woods hexes
2) If anyone can take Eli for the day.  I've had 4 different babysitters call off, and Maria has to work.  I REALLY don't want to bring Eli to the store.

I have lots of vees although most are battle tanks and hovers.  I will also bring those WW2 plastic vees.  Some are apc's.  They are all coming.  I have no hex packs.

I am bringing my daughter Erin with me.  She will probably watch some movies on our portable DVD player or read.

Yeah, all my vees are proxy-bait too, save for the Demolishers and a coolant truck.  We'll make do.

How old is she?  Would she be OK with keeping an eye on Eli?  (If the portable player has a USB port, I'll load up a flash drive with stuff for them to watch)

She is 11 [almost 12].  I don't think she is ready for "keeping an eye on" [or "babysitting"] just yet.  However she loves watching movies and I don't think she would mind watching movies with Eli.  She does want to check out the store [that may not last long :)].  There is no usb on the dvd player, but we do have large selection of Disney movies, Pixar, Backyardigans and such.  All I would need is a wall socket [I am assuming that we will be on the table in the back room?]

When somebody gets the chance, could you post the attendance so I can get the MVP and most enjoyable at table polls up?

Texted you this info during game.

Mission summary (I'll update the main thread when I wake back up):

Wildy, retardedly, successful mission.
-Ken Thien, Fabian Bock, and Agata Tarducci were all captured by Rob

-Tyan-yu Rich was captured by Brandon

-Because Rob captured Ken Thien, Rob has the option to let him go if he tells Rob where he got the HGN-732 SL-tech Highlander.  That becomes a "Star League Cache" solo mission for Rob.
.
-ZEU-6S Zeus was headcapped and awarded to Dan (80t Mech makes great spare parts for an 80t Awesome, and nobody else has Assault Pilots anyway).

-HGN-732 was solo-killed by Rob, and salvaged.  We can't figure out what to do with it, so we're punting the question to the Unit CO.  Among other options, it can be put into the Unit Reserve, awarded as you see fit, or various lances can bid on it, or whatever.  It's in decent condition; I popped a side torso ammo crit and the pilot auto-ejected, so it's missing the LA and LT (so needs all LA actuators, the SRM-6, the LRM-20, 1 Jump Jet, several ammo crits, and the CASE itself).  A scan of the sheet is attached, since it's your responsibility right now.  Oh, the armor is F/F, which may be a problem for logistics.

-Finally, we went over-limit on claimed salvage.  Which means that we have $1,356,000 LESS salvage available on the next mission.  Figured it was worth it to grab the Highlander; the available salvage was a Vindy -3L, the Zeus, the Highlander, and the Banshee; no combination of that added up well.

Shouldn't the left arm have just dropped in place? damage moves in, not out on the damage transfer diagram. (Doesn't it even leave the shoulder crit intact?)

Highlander will be placed into unit reserve with the intent to fix and sell. If we get lucky on procurement rolls, we'll make bank, otherwise, it'll still sell for some satisfactory cbills.

based on megamek rob says it will be destroyed as far as the arm only because megamek will not track it

also why sell it? i mean its a good base defense/city defense unit with headcapping ability and armor

it can also be fixed up and upgraded further by some people considering star league parts not used yet by some of us (xl) make it 4/6/4

i just am curious as to the arguments both ways at this point

I'm baffled as to why you would put an XL on that considering the cost of the engine (8.6 million Cbills) - its absolutely crit packed, the tonnage still doesn't come out even after taking things off it.

The Highlander is an absolute tanking machine, and its speed means its also not a particular fast combatant - most of the lances are MUCH faster than that Highlander can realistically ever be.

Also, its a colossal BV investment - almost a third of your allocated drop.  Not too many lances can afford that or are built for it.

I was going by BMM's description of CASE on p.118 which explicitly states the arm is not damaged when a torso location blows.

Dan pretty much nailed the reasons to sell the Highlander. It is a beast, but too slow and situational. I would rather purchase an advanced tech medium or two. Most units in the Rangers would benefit from a PXH-3(D/M/K) far more than the Highlander.

I HAVE STAR LEAGUE PARTS
it wouldnt cost me anything 4/6/4 keeps me in line with the enforcers and if anything i can drop an enforcer and pick up a light

basically strip the lrm and srm throw in a couple more ml and a couple ppc then no ammo boom just gauss which is in arm anyway

but its up to you guys thats my only arguement sell it after its fixed the cbills will help later on but we are going to need armor later

i want to get rid of an enforcer at some point they are to slow for a medium but i want similar firepower in return
