Running Horse Special Mission - Ace Duel (Skaraborg) 10/30/45
« on: January 29, 2018, 01:14:16 PM »

The screencap from the Ace Duel doesn't help much.  The target player picks a NON-OFFICER unit from their Lance, and then an OPFOR unit of the same weight class is generated to fight them.

Ace Duels are 1-on-1, but there is a 1-in-10 chance that the OPFOR Ace's lancemates will jump the player.  Lancemates are always lighter than the Ace.  The OPFOR Ace's skills' are fixed (ie, it'll always be X/X no matter the weight class), but SPAs and Edges are ALWAYS present on an OPFOR Ace.

There is a percentage chance that a custom Mech will be pulled if the player's mech is a custom unit.  The chance is equal to the number of custom Mechs in the target player's Lance (ie, have 3 custom Mechs, there's a 75% chance of the OPFOR being custom; in MM, that pulls from any Mechs tagged as custom in MML, in the case of this campaign, I'd generate a custom Mech for the OPFOR scaled to how min-maxed your Lance's custom Mechs are).

Finally, there is no Contract Breach if you refuse an Ace Duel.  One of three things can happen if you refuse (I'm unsure of the chances of each of these happening; I've never refused a duel):
1) Nothing
2) The Ace shows up as OPFOR in a later Scenario with the Blood Stalker SPA (target: you)
3) Your Lance can be the defender in an "AMBUSH!" Special Mission.  Guess who it is.

Uggghh.  Crap.  I'm wondering if I'd rather be ambushed.

Rob, when were you wanting to do your special mission?  We should probably do this one the same day.

Also - what are the rewards for this kind of mission?

Yeah, agreed.  We should be able to knock both out pretty quick.

CRAP I'm sorry, I forgot to put that in - I'll put it into the SL Cache OP as well.

Whenever you play an "extended" solo mission where you only get to deploy a single Unit (SL Cache 1 or 2, Officer Duel, Ace Duel, Ambush 1, Extended Recon, Civilian Help, Prison Break, or Allied Traitors), IF - IF - IF you win, you automatically salvage the entire battlefield unless the random conditions for the scenario say otherwise.  That means you get all downed Mechs and all downed pilots, even if they didn't eject.

Alright, I'm game.

Sorry, busy afternoon.  You were going with the Phoenix Hawk, right?

Oh, wait.  I forgot there was a 3039 table.

870 Produces a result of...a DV-6M Dervish.

I know that Noble steed well, and the mess it leaves when crashing into a crater.

Are you free any time this week?  I have an 11:15 game at Northland on Friday, and I *think* Maria is off work, so I could come up in the afternoon and we could likely get both games done prior to my departure for dressing.

Alternately, if you have Sunday Afternoon open, I'm in the area because of skate coaching and Eli's lessons.  I could come over then; I get out of Northlands ~2:20, though I'd HAVE to stop for lunch, and I MAY have to bring Eli (not that he'd mind, given we're playing BattleTech).

And I'm generally home this week and next during the day, so if you've got a Kentucky server replacement or something, you could stop by.

Friday is pretty open right now.  Sunday afternoon should also be good.

Dan's Phoenix Hawk pilot has defeated a Capellan Ace!

He has claimed a Dervish in not technically terrible condition, captured the pilot, and because you have defeated and enemy ace, gains a +3 xp bonus above and beyond the normal mission rewards.

Behold the power of a Mech-scale goalie stick!

Less that you might think.

Dan - unlike others which have brought up the annoyance of ammo explosions - remembered the formula for successfully salvaging units in IntroTech combat: close with the enemy, know when to STOP shooting, and know when to concentrate on kicking off a leg.
