"Have `Mech, Will Travel." / AA generation thread

So starting a St Ives Prefecture character.  Being aCapellean citizen means society minimum is 3, choosing administration and negotiation for +1 to skills, exceptional attribute/edge and stigma/capellean sympathizer (although this wont come into play for a few more years).

"Have `Mech, Will Travel." / Character Generation Questions
« on: February 21, 2017, 08:20:38 PM »
1) I know you can spend edge to enter a path not on the exit list.  What about paths that you can only enter with a roll?  For example, my character is attending the Siam center for martial disipline, and I do not roll the events to go to OCS, but I rally want to go.  May I spend a point of edge to enter OCS or do I need to keep rerolling to try and get the event?

2) multi-level traits.  I know we are running a simplified system, but it looks like in some cases the stacked level matters in others it doesn't.  In a specific example, lets take bad reputation.  After my lifepaths, my capellan has bad reputation (5) (he is cappie after all).  Does this mean: a) I get -10 to all attempts to Scrounge when I need to make a check? b) I go consult the table in the rpg book, find out that I have a bad reputation sphere wide, and take a -2 everywhere?  Concurrently if I reduce it down to say 2 do I choose the region of space where I have a bad reputation or does thee GM assign that and I record it for future gms?  c)  I must spend trait points to reduce it down to bad rep (1) to avoid complex interactions?

3) I know you have talked about a possible "unit specialization" getting you a point of edge at some points Sat.  Was this dropped?  Is it still a possibility, and needs more evaluation time?

What do you mean I wasn't at the last game and don't belong in this thread.  I'm a loyal member of the scientist caste, and have been off testing new protomechs.  I swear.

Michael Hickey, a law firm for orcs, does not accept solicitations provided on public forum software.  There is no way to meet any requirements for appropriate client communication, and seeking legal advice over forum software is just stupid.

Also begging for free legal work is foolish.  Legal educations are expensive.

Note: at the present time I am neither accepting or practicing.

Historical Wargaming / Jan games
« on: December 30, 2016, 08:30:56 PM »
As was brought up in the btech forum, its been suggested that we try for a game on the 7th or 14th of Jan.  Thoughts on which is better for people?  where should we play?

So HE guns add their pen value against infantry.  So that little 6 pounder would have been significantly more effective than Sat demonstrated.

Historical Wargaming / Choosing weather and other conditions
« on: September 09, 2016, 08:58:56 PM »
Alright, so the forces I m most drawn too is a Finnish force..  The issue becomes purchasing ski's for all my troops.  So how is weather determined?  Dumping snow is almost required for my force to show how scary it is, but it has the potential to make a very negative play experience for certain otheer types of forces (ie highly mechanised forces bog down in snow quick).

So how is weather determined?  Would I know beforehand, so I can put ski's or not on my infantry?  would it be blind, so I am potentially using 40+ of my points on something that would be pointless?  How would this be handled?

Warriors of the Watch, upon which all of our Clans hopes and dreams rest upon,

I call for a time of unity and planning during this unprecedented time of threat against all Clans.  This threat, this store the dark caste has laid their hands upon, contains atomic weapons which have not been used since before we withdrew from the inner sphere.  The units that we have must be correctly applied so that we all may survive what is to come.

We must put aside our prejudices and select the best units for each task.  Fail to do this, and the blood of all our gene-spawn will be on all our hands.

We are the Watch, we do what we must so that others may continue to live their lives.  We are the Watch, and we do not fail.

General Discussion / How to divide players for the next campaign
« on: June 17, 2013, 11:01:31 PM »
We need to start deciding how to divide up for the next campaign.  So here are my rules for dividing up

1) By agreeing to PC in one campaign, you agree NPC the other campaign.  Failure to attend 2 of your assigned NPC sessions may result in your PC role in a campaign being lost.

2)  Darrian Wolffe, by virtue of GMing more than the last year, gets his choice of campaign.

3)  Players will be divided via the following system.  At a posted and predetermined time, a thread will be opened for players to state their choice of campaign.  The first X players, where x represents 1/2 of the group, to state a choice of a campaign will get the campaign.  In the event that more than X players express a choice of the same campaign, the first X players determined by the time stamp in the forum will get the role of a PC in that campaign.

Any comments, criticism, or suggestions.  We need to get this done before GenCon, so people can gets mechs if need be.
