Don't know who to direct this to, there is a guy on face book that is looking to get into BT. His name is Alex Kara. He stated that he has requested acceptance to this forum. That is, if you guys want him.

Where on Facebook, and has he tried to create an account here?  If he has, what username has he tried?

No worries.  I've responded on Facebook (having Shane run the CMWGC is easy cause my membership request got approved in <10 seconds).  For what it's worth, I don't see anyone on the "Membership awaiting approval" list who's registered in the last week and has an IP address from this continent.

Not this guy.  He was back in the low 5300s. SoylentGreen202.  I've approved him as of ~30 seconds ago.

Tldr, I need to go clean the spam trap out a bit.

Hey all, thanks for getting me started here. I'm fairly new to the game just fyi. I started playing megamek just because it was a turn based game that ran natively on linux per se and slowly developed more interest in battletech over time. Once I realised that Iron Wind was here I decided to buy some models and got Total Warfare. It's all pretty overwhelming though...so I was wondering what kind of games are played around here and then of course if I could be involved somehow.

Ok I found the big rules pdf for the ongoing campaign. I modify my question thus. Are you currently accepting new players in your campaign?

I have actually messed around with AtB a little so I wouldn't be completely lost. It's tough without knowing the mechanics; one mission my units came on the map a few at a time where the were gunned down by a dozen tanks with elite gunners, but hey, war is hell. I know nothing of the Mechwarrior rules.

Hey, man, good to see you.  This is Rob from the Facebooks.

We absolutely are accepting players into the current campaign, because the way the game is set up we can drop people in or out very easily, and there's no real upper cap except via the sheer size of the playing space.  My very strong recommendation is that you play as an NPC first (essentially, you come out and play, but don't worry about running your own lance), for the duration of the group's next contract (~4-6 months), which is just about to start.  That will give you time to get comfortable with our group and how we handle things (and to look over the rules and see how they work in practice) prior to jumping into the deep end of the pool.

While we have a few house rules, they're mainly used to streamline the way initiative works when we have 8-20 players around a single table; otherwise, the rules you've picked up from MegaMek will hold you in good stead.

FYI, we play roughly monthly, and the next game will be this coming Saturday (Nov 11th).  If you can't make that, then don't sweat it; the following game is scheduled for December 9th.

Cool, I should be able to make that. Just let me know where and when to show up. Are these forums the best place to commicate details and whatnot or would facebook or something else be better for you?

No, because the forum didn't show the General Discussion area as having a new post.  Yours showed up as being new.

Currently we're meeting at a house (we lost our game store in September and we're getting a new venue in January). Send a private message to  "ItsTehPope" on this forum (it's his house) for the location details.  We ask people to be there by ~10am so we can start playing by 10:30, and we generally go until ~5-5:30pm, with a break for lunch.  There's plenty of food places around his house inside a 3-minute drive.

For this game, I STRONGLY recommend you review both BattleMech combat rules if you aren't already completely familiar with them, and that you review vehicle combat rules.  The scenario writeup is located here: http://forums.cincybattletech.com/index.php?topic=850.50
