2. In terms of contact and how it has a value of 1,2 and 3, I am assuming that regardless of the level, it would still just be a +3 within 2 jumps of X planet, or would the level have other effects?

It's a flat bonus, regardless of Contact level.  The level of the Contact mostly serves as allowing people to leverage the Contact to ask for something outside the normal bounds of the rules - the bigger the Contact, the more likely you are to get the thing.

Zeus was 80 tons though. But it does not matter. Rob called. Mech was determined on Fed Suns table (due to Tour of Duty) and the Mech is a Victor VTR-9B... So yeah I guess I still qualify (mostly). Also the roll for mech apparently burns EDG and not actual threshold. So the second roll is also ignored.
Never mind. Still 80 tons. :/

I cannot think of a customization that would work well with ambidextrous. Anyone has good suggestions? I was contemplating making this mirror my Cataphract, but I want something different.

Backstory:

Things have been rough for the family in recent times, with the attack from the Draconis Combine when I was just 4 years old. My family was not hit as bad, but was able to recoup losses prior to my leaving for military school. During this time my contacts continue to pile on and give me information to the whereabouts of my cousin (Esser) whose family was killed during the attacks. Our family was unable to contact him due to him being picked up by mercenaries. My time in military school was positive, gaining skills and another contact to continue well needed information.
After Military school, I went to a Fed Suns academy to learn more about our allies and try to gain training to be able to be an efficient leader. Gaining entry into the OCS, along with becoming a MechWarrior to be able to protect my friends and family should the need arise. Going through the academy was easy and rewarding, gaining more contacts, along with a reputation to my name.
Once I began the tour of duty with the Fed Suns, I was a little nervous, if not uneasy, assuming the possibility of meeting Esser on the battlefield, unsure as to what path he takes after his time in a Lyran academy. I was able to acquire an even larger reputation to my name, along with a Mech to match it. to which My time in service was a little too easy, which opened up more possibilities of going to another academy, in which I chose to enter Sanglamore, a Lyran academy.
During my time at Sanglamore, I was able to expand my studies even further to a university for more experience acquired to my impressive resume. By the end of this time, I was also able to acquire more connections, expanding throughout the entire Inner Sphere. Finishing up the last leg of my special training, I have acquired news about the attacks on Somerset from an unknown enemy that appeared from the periphery. I also had word that Esser and the mercenary unit was there during their contract. Happy that he survived and might have been able to meet him, a few short months later, Numenorean CO contacts (in which we have had some conversations after finding out he was part of the merc unit the past few years) me to tell the news of the loss of Esser (status unknown), but presumed dead. He offered up a position to take control of his lance and continue on with the mission. I just hope he is alive.
